Project HERE is excited to announce a series of community forums aimed at discussing the environmental issues related to the former Georgia Pacific Mill Site. These forums will provide a platform for residents to learn and engage with experts.
Each forum will feature presentations from our Technical Consultant, followed by a Q&A session. This is an excellent opportunity for residents to voice their concerns and gain clarity on the cleanup process.
Your participation is crucial. We look forward to seeing you at our forums and working together towards a healthier community.
The Technical Consultant hired through the grant will play a pivotal role in bridging the gap between technical reports and community understanding. Their expertise will help demystify the investigation and cleanup processes at the Mill Site.
During the open forums, the consultant will present findings in an accessible manner, ensuring that all community members can engage with the information. This approach aims to foster transparency and trust.
We encourage community members to attend these sessions and ask questions. Your engagement is vital for the success of the remediation efforts.

The Headlands Environmental Remediation Education Project (Project HERE) is thrilled to announce that we have been awarded a Technical Assistance Grant from the California Department of Toxic Substances Control (DTSC). This funding will support our efforts in community education regarding the environmental issues surrounding the former Georgia Pacific Mill Site.
This grant is part of the Cleanup in Vulnerable Communities Initiative (CVCI), which was authorized through Senate Bill (SB) 158 in 2021. With this funding, we will be able to hire a Technical Consultant who will review and explain the Mill Site investigation and cleanup reports to the community.
Over the next 18 months, Project HERE will host open forum meetings to present this vital information to the members of the Fort Bragg community. We encourage everyone to participate meaningfully in the planning for the remaining remediation of the Mill Site.
